It is now officially 2010. So Happy New Year!

Many of you won’t be up yet. You will still be in bed socking up the comfort of the new year in bed, and not giving much thought to photography. (I’ll let you off this once! :-) )

I however was prompted by this blog post to give the matter some thought – Concord Unveils New Polaroid FS73 Flash Single Use Camera

Essentially, Concord Keywtone are all set to unveil a ‘throwaway’ type camera under the Polaroid brand that will take 27 pictures, with a built in flash and running ISO 400 film. It will be called the FS73 and will be ‘revealed’ at CES 2010 (which is being held in Las Vegas from the 7th – 10th Jan 2010)

Nothing too whoppee doo about that (though it could come in handy if you lose your luggage on holiday!)

No. The part that struck me was the price. $6 for a single camera.

Six bucks. Hardly breaking the bank is it.

Made me think that in this New Year it can sometimes be easy to forget how far photography has come. And that reminded me. From an elite activity in its origins, to something that even a child could afford from their pocket money.

Cool :-)

Enjoy the day!
