Learn How to Make Money with Photography by Selling Photos

When you buy your own digital SLR camera, it’s tempting to now feel that now you are a great photographer like Ansel Adams. That’s fine to have confidence in yourself, but remember that without the right the right direction and training your photography know-how will be limited. By following these 5 Digtal SLR Tips you will notice an improvement as a digital photographer.

Helpful Hint #1 – Spend more on the lenses than on the camera itself.

It makes no sense in buying a high quality digital SLR camera if you are just putting an inexpensive glass lens on it.   Most good photographers will tell you it’s much better to get a cheaper camera, but invest in better, more expensive lenses. So take time to explore what are the best lenses that you can afford.

Tip #2 – Keep your camera on you.

This investment has cost you a lot of money so definitely bring your camera with you wherever you go. You want to have your camera at your side wherever you go — you never know when a great opportunity will present itself to you!

Tip #3 – Understand the Three Important Settings — ISO, Aperture, and Shutter.

ISO, International Organization of Standardization,   refers to a camera’s film speed.     The higher a camera’s ISO setting, the more light goes to the digital sensor. It’s important to know how and when to set the ISO setting to get just the best photo quality in all lighting conditions.

The aperture is primarily the diameter of the lens opening. (“Aperture value” may be called “f/value” or “F-stop” in some cameras.) The higher the aperture value , the smaller the diameter of the lens opening is, and then there is less light that the lens collects. A higher aperture number it means a greater depth of focus . This is good for landscape photos or when you want a lot of things in focus. Whereas, a lower number means a shorter depth of focus. This is great when you want a person in focus but the background out of focus.

The shutter speed purpose is to show you how quickly the shutter operates for every photo taken. Use the slow shutter speed, for lower lighting situations, but be careful not to go so slow where the picture are blurred.  Also, use the quicker shutter speed when you have fast moving objects or are photographing on a very bright day. When you use the faster shutter speeds you will have fewer blurry photos as well.

Tip #4 – Don’t Be Scared to Take LOTS of Photographs!

By bringing your digital SLR camera everyplace you will be taking a lot more pictures which is good. Isn’t digital photography wonderful, not having to spend for all the film and processing costs? I highly recommend when you’re taking important photos to experiment by taking various exposures and camera angles. By doing this and evaluate your digital pictures afterwards you will be improving your photographic skills. And who knows — you just might stumble upon a great shot! And you never know — you just might stumble upon an award winning photo! works wonderful when your photo is a little too dark or light and you want to tweak it.  With JPEG’s you  make as many modifications, but the file size is a great deal smaller than the larger RAW format. The JPEG format, however, work fine for many of your basic family photos.

Take the time to practise these 5 Digital SLR Tips so you will take better images and gain a better understanding of your digital camera. To be a excellent photographer requires that you need to be a student for life as well, because there’s continually something new to study about taking high quality images!
