Digital Cameras are getting better and better with every passing year at taking close up shots. The macro modes on most point and shoot cameras now automatically adjust the settings to be optimal and you can get some really great close up shots with the minimum of effort.

I was interested to read today about Lynne Garrell who has taken to using this close up feature to take some great close up shots of some very ordinary objects, but from a very unusual perspective.

She is looking at flowers from the underside (rather then looking down at the petals), close up shots of the buds of flowers and the tiny elements of flowers that you would not normally see.

Lynne is fascinated by the geometric shapes, patterns and colours that come into play when you zoom in on nature, and reminds us that sometimes a change can be as good as a rest if you choose to change the angles  and perspectives you shoot your photographs from.

She has been taking photographs as a hobby for many years, and now has a free exhibition “Not Your Usual VIew” running tomorrow in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

You can get more details about Lynne and her photographs here
