When you consider the Canon 60D vs T2i, which is the best choice? So one of the questions people are asking is whether Canon should have given this new release the name 60D? For it is not a true upgrade in the most technical sense.
It does, however, fit in that spot when all features are considered. Engineers have been working overtime during the past year, and it is apparently paying off “in spades” as the Canon T2i and the Canon 7D have done extremely well against all competition. Canon 60D vs T2i is quite an interesting comparison, as you will see. While both use the exact same sensor and processor, as well as the body construction, there are a few differences that make the newer camera worth the extra money.
It should be noted here that Canon and other leaders in the camera market now have an unstated goal that video gets top billing in their newer cameras. All three of its mid-range DSLR cameras that have been released during the past year have shared video as one of their top features. The one thing that the 60D has in its favor is an improved capacity to control audio input during video capture.
Another advantage that the other two cameras do not have is the articulating LCD screen. In fact, this is the first Canon digital SLR to have this feature. It is a real plus when capturing video and for shooting from unusual positions like really low to the ground or above the head. Yet another plus is the continuous burst rate, the number of frames per second that can be recorded. For the T2i the frame rate is a respectable 3.7 fps, but the 60D can capture a more impressive 5.3 fps.
The new camera also has an electronic level in the viewfinder. This is a terrific idea for photographers like yours truly who can’t get the horizon straight on a bet. Both cameras have a 9 point auto focus control, but the 60D has all 9 points with cross-type auto focus points whereas the T2i has only the center point as a cross-type focus point. The last two improvements are wireless flash control and an improved auto-ISO function.
The Canon T2i is a marvelous camera for the entry level DSLR photographer. It has the excellent image quality we come to expect from Canon SLR cameras, as well as some other fine features. The truth is that the T2i is on the “Top 5″ cameras in the best-seller list. Users have expressed their satisfaction by recording their confidence in the online stores Star Ratings. There is no way you can make a mistake by buying this camera.
On the other side of this comparison, the Canon 60D is now being targeted at sort of the same type of photographer rather than the semi-pro that the 50D has been popular with. This is because Canon did not include some of the features that were in the 50D, such as a higher continuous shooting rate and magnesium alloy body construction.
Now the big question. When face with a choice between the Canon 60D vs T2i , which will you choose? Still need some help? There is a side-by-side-by-side comparison (including the 7D) at http://digital-photographic-resources.com/cameras/canon-mid-range.html.
