Learn How to Make Money with Photography by Selling Photos
It is bleak mid winter as I look out of my office window. Very picturesque. But rather cold, and slightly forbidding as I know that I am going to have to go out in it in a few minutes time.
All of which snowy shenanigans is in sharp contrast to what is happening at the Howland Cultural Center in New York throughout January 2010. There they are all ‘Loved Up’ as they have chosen a theme of ‘Love’ for this years exhibition; and 11 photographers have jumped into the fray to show off their best photographs.
The Director responsible for the show Florence Nortchcutt had this to say about the theme of the exhibition:
“I wanted the images to go beyond romantic love or sexual love,” she said. “We want to show love as seen through the lens of individual photographers.”
Quite interesting. Goes to demonstrate why it can be a good idea to pick a theme for your photography on a given day, because it can help to focus the mind, and seek out the ethereal, essence type nature of a subject rather then any superficial shots that seem obvious at first glance, but which don’t really get to the heart of the matter (pardon the pun).
